Throughout the past forty years, many things have changed at Rural Computer Consultants. We have moved buildings multiple times, gone through numerous product re-writes, and increased the size of our wonderful staff. Through all of this change, the core of how RCC does business remains the same. This includes an ongoing focus on offering the best quality product and service. We do this through billing for support, annual software maintenance and offering our Fuel Distribution System software with modules. The question often comes up of why RCC does this. Here is an explanation of why we do what we do here at RCC.
Fabe Sheehan Taught Us the Value of Support
Fabe Sheehan instilled the value of support into his children at a young age. He taught his kids that a quality product will generate new business. Fabe put a large emphasis on service in his propane business. He made sure area customers always got gas when they needed it no matter what the time of day. Brian, Kevin, and Susie Sheehan (3 of Fabe’s 8 children) carried on this tradition with RCC. They emphasize to staff that we are here to make the lives of our customers easier.

Paying for Support as You Need it Saves You Money
As with most things in life, there is a cost associated with the service. Early on in the startup of Rural Computer Consultants, Brian and Kevin determined that our customers should only need to pay for support if they actually use it. What is the sense in paying for a service if you only use 10% of the yearly cost? Instead, we believe that paying for RCC’s service and support as you go (and as needed) saves money in the end. RCC also understands that continued education is crucial in keeping our customers up to speed with new changes in RCC. As a result, we include two hours each year for continued training and education in the yearly software maintenance fee. If paying for support as you go does not sound like an appealing strategy for your company, we also offer yearly support contracts. Annual Software Maintenance Covers All Updates
Along with support and continued education of the product provided by our excellent support team, RCC staffs a full development team that is constantly working on enhancing and patching the current Fuel Distribution System. To cover the costs of enhancing and maintaining the software, RCC has annual software maintenance. This covers the cost of all updates and service packs released throughout the year. As a result, we do not charge current users to update the product with these enhancements and updates. After a customer purchases FDS, they never have to buy the full product again. With the release of our new enhanced FDS Version 10, current customers receive this product at no to minimal cost when paying annual maintenance.

Add-on Modules for your Business Needs
Throughout the years, RCC has added numerous additional packages to the FDS core fuel software. These include Inventory, Payroll, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Fixed Assets, and many more. RCC calls all of these add-ons modules. We found early on, that each customer may decide to use these add-on modules and others prefer different options. Instead of including every module in the cost of the FDS Software, we decided it’s best to allow customers to pick and choose what FDS modules suit their business needs. This business model allows RCC to be flexible by offering every tool to run an effective business under one roof. These modules are designed so a customer can choose to add on to their existing setup at any point to improve and enhance the efficiency of their business.
