IGNITE & Propane, two awesome words that go hand in hand when RCC hit the road to inspire future talent!
Brett and Jerod from RCC recently spent the day at Ridgewater College’s Hutchinson campus for the “IGNITE Your Future” student career exploration event, and the day was absolutely buzzing with energy. With more than 1,200 students exploring 75+ hands-on activities, there was no shortage of excitement, learning, and curiosity.
At the RCC booth, Jerod and Brett introduced students to programming. Over 100 students stopped by, and around 60–80 jumped right into the programming exercise. Many started out a little unsure about coding, but by the end, most were smiling and saying things like “that was fun” or “that was awesome.” It was great to see how quickly students caught on. Some were brand new to programming, others had some experience, and one even asked about an internship at RCC. A future teammate in the making, perhaps.
The Ridgewater organizers were fantastic, keeping everything running smoothly and making sure no one went hungry. The students were curious and engaged, the other exhibitors were welcoming, and the RCC swag was so popular that they had to start rationing it early.
A huge thank you to Ridgewater College and event volunteers for organizing such a well-run and inspiring event, and to every student who stopped by to code, chat, and learn with us. At RCC, we love seeing the next generation of tech talent light up with curiosity.
