At RCC, safety is not a separate initiative. It’s built into how our customers run their propane operations every day. The same is true for our longtime partner, P3 Propane Safety.
To help explain how the RCC-P3 integration works and why it matters for propane marketers, we sat down with Jane Lapsley of P3 Propane Safety and Mallory McCutchen of RCC. Jane speaks to the safety and compliance advantages, while Mallory explains how the integration functions inside RCC’s Fuel Distribution System (FDS) and MOGO.
A Shared Mission Around Safety and Efficiency
P3 Propane Safety and Rural Computer Consultants (RCC) have common missions: to create better, easier, more accurate, and more efficient processes for propane marketers across the United States. P3 Propane focuses on safety and compliance while RCC specializes in propane operations and logistics software, both are designed to streamline efforts for propane retailers. Best of all, they integrate with each other to create a more seamless experience for users.
How P3 and RCC Improve Compliance and Accuracy
P3 Propane and RCC’s integration saves billable hours for companies by reducing the data input that technicians in the field or office staff enter after every inspection and delivery. The integration also helps teams work smarter while keeping account information consistent and accessible.
Along with saving time in the field, mutual customers can also expect enhanced communication between technicians, office staff, and management, reducing billable hours at no additional cost.
Supporting a Proactive Safety Culture: P3’s Perspective
We first asked Jane how the integration helps propane marketers move from reactive to proactive when it comes to safety.
Q: How does the P3/RCC integration support a proactive safety culture rather than a reactive one?
The integration helps to ensure that technicians and office staff have the tools necessary to fulfill regulatory compliance requirements and document them accurately. By meeting or exceeding all propane safety requirements from the very first jobsite visit, the risk of incidents is significantly reduced and teams have more time to focus on the tasks at hand without having to backtrack and spend time on remedial adjustments.
Q: What feedback have you received from users about the P3/RCC integration?
The feedback from mutual customers of P3 and RCC has been instrumental in developing the integration to get it where it is today. We are pleased to report overwhelmingly positive responses in respect to the time saved and enhanced accuracy that is presented when the two programs are used in tandem.
What the Integration Actually Shares and Tracks: RCC’s View
To give a closer look at how data moves between the systems, Mallory walked us through RCC’s role in the safety workflow and how the integration is set up.
Q: How does RCC define its role in supporting safety within propane operations?
RCC is dedicated to helping customers achieve the highest standards of safety by embedding multiple safety features and tracking tools within our software. This includes the ability to independently record safety checks and regulator inspections. Our partnership with P3 further strengthens this mission, giving customers seamless access to all essential safety documents in one centralized location.
Q: What safety-related challenges do your customers commonly face, and how does RCC help address them?
One of the most common challenges customers encounter is maintaining data integrity. Inaccurate data entry can lead to flawed reporting and concerns during safety audits. By integrating with P3, RCC eliminates much of this risk. Information flows directly from RCC to P3, removing the need for manual entry and significantly reducing the margin for error. Updates made in RCC are instantly reflected in P3, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
Q: What specific features or data does RCC share with P3 Safety to enhance safety workflows?
RCC shares key customer and location details with P3, including addresses and account numbers. Equipment records are also integrated, enabling drivers and service technicians to access critical information in the field. To streamline workflows, we have embedded direct hyperlinks to P3 within RCC’s customer hub and MOGO tablets, making the process simple and efficient.
Improving Visibility, Reporting, and Access to Safety Data
Both teams emphasized how important it is for safety data to be visible, current, and easy to act on, from the office to the truck.
Q: How does the integration improve visibility or reporting for safety compliance?
The RCC-P3 interface provides staff at every level, from drivers and technicians to management, with quick access to safety information in one place. RCC’s ability to deliver real-time updates to P3 ensures that data is always current. Combined with P3’s robust reporting and metrics, the integration enables fast, accurate, and comprehensive safety compliance reporting.
Q: How does RCC ensure that safety data is accessible and actionable for field teams and management?
RCC offers a wide range of reports and queries to monitor safety compliance. Through MOGO tablets, service technicians and drivers can enter gas and appliance checks directly into the system. The collaboration with P3 adds another layer of accessibility, allowing both managers and field teams to access safety data via direct links from RCC and MOGO tablets.
What’s Next: Documents, Photos, and Future Functionality
Looking ahead, both P3 and RCC are focused on making sure the integration continues to evolve with customer needs and industry expectations.
Q: Are there any upcoming enhancements to the integration that users should be excited about?
Yes! P3 is always adding new features to its program and integrations. The next feature that will be added to the P3/RCC integration is the ability for documents and photos to be passed from P3 to RCC, which will help various teams keep information and files at their fingertips without having to switch between the two platforms.
Q: How do you see this partnership evolving to meet future safety challenges in the propane industry?
We are already developing Phase 4 of the integration, which will enable documents and photos to be transferred from P3 back into RCC. Feedback from end users continues to guide our innovation, ensuring we meet the evolving needs of the propane industry. Together, RCC and P3 remain committed to delivering the highest-quality solutions, keeping safety compliance at the forefront of our mission.
P3 and RCC are committed to providing a product that matches what our mutual customers want and need. They are continually conducting research to discover the most desired new functionalities, and have the programming experience and capacity to create those features to test and release to current and future customers.
Keeping Safety Front and Center, Together
From reducing manual data entry and improving accuracy to putting safety documents and inspections at technicians’ fingertips, the RCC-P3 integration is designed to support a proactive, efficient safety culture across your entire propane operation.
Together with P3, we remain focused on giving fuel people the reliable, connected tools they need, in the office, in the field, and everywhere in between.
